The Belfast Giants are into the Elite League Play-Off Final after a 6-3 win over Nottingham Panthers.

The result keeps alive the SSE Arena side's hopes of a Grand Slam.

They will face the winners of the second semi-final between Cardiff and Sheffield.

The Giants went one-up thanks to goals from Steve Owre, who profited from good approach play from Scott Conway and David Goodwin.

Sean Norris pounced on a loose puck after Panthers' Tyler Beskorowany made a double-save to net and make it 2-0, and Ben Lake made it three with the aid of a deflection.

Jack Hopkins pulled one back on the power-play to leave it 3-1 at the end of the first period.

However Giants captain David Goodwin soon restored their three-goal cushion.

Stephen Anderson reduced the gap to 4-2 with 6:30 to play in period two.

Ben Lake made it 5-2 when his goal stood after video reviews proved the puck crossed the line. Panthers kept battling though and Jakub Izacky scored at the second attempt.

But there was to be no comeback and the Giants sealed the win and their spot in the showpiece courtesy of Sean Norris' goal.
