History will be made tonight (Friday) when Newry City and Warrenpoint Point meet for the first time in a top-tier derby.

The two big rivals have traded blows over the years but never before in the Dankse Bank Premiership.

Now they are set for a history-making clash at the Showgrounds.

City boss Darren Mullen is hoping their decent home form will see them through.

He told Downtown & Cool FM: “It’s a game we will look forward to.

“Having a first local derby between Newry and Warrenpoint is something everyone will look forward to – I would imagine they will come into the game full of confidence but our home form has been really good.

“It’s a game we are set up to go and win.

“I think it’s really good for the area – if I wasn’t manager of the team I would be going down to watch it.”

The game kicks off at the Showgrounds at 7.45.
