Conlan started well making for an overall close fight but Nicaraguan Yader Cardoza also put on a good performance, culminating in an eighth round flooring of the Belfast man.

Conlan bounced back however to win the WBC Silver Super-Flyweight title in a split decision.

Also on the bill was Belfast flyweight Paddy Barnes.

It was a good bought for this local man too as the twice Olympic bronze medallist made it two wins from two pro fights.

He secured a points victory over Argentinian opponent Adrian Dimas Garzon.

Barnes dominated in this more forthright clash ending in a 60-54 success against the Argentinian.

His opening win however finished in an unusual fashion with Argentinian opponent Stefan Slavchev being disqualified for lifting him.

Former two-weight world champion, Carl Frampton looked on ringside as the Belfast fighters faced their challengers.
