EXCLUSIVE: Conor McMenamin and Stephen Robinson discuss life in the SPL
The St Mirren boss and his new signing met up with our Sports Reporter Gareth McCullough last week
Conor McMenamin's loving life in Scotland.
The former Glentoran winger made the move from the Irish League to SPL side St Mirren last month and, after appearances in the League Cup, the 27-year-old started his first league game in the 3-2 win away to Hibernian on Sunday.
Our Sports Reporter Gareth McCullough travelled to Paisley, just outside Glasgow, to catch up with the Downpatrick man a couple of days before McMenamin made his league debut.
He talked about the protracted move, how he's settling in, his 'crazy' career journey and his goal of securing a regular starting spot for Northern Ireland.
You can watch the full interview below.
McMenamin's integration into a new club, new country and a higher standard of football has been helped by some familiar faces at 'The Buddies'.
His manager is Lisburn native Stephen Robinson, the 48-year-old former Northern Ireland international, who also had a spell in charge of the country's Under-21s and was assistant 5o Michael O'Neill during the 2016 Euros in France.
There are also another couple of familiar faces at McMenamin's new club, with his cousin Caolan Boyd-Munce signing a one-year deal to remain in Scotland, having initially penned a short-term contract in March.
Former Glenavon, Cliftonville, Crusaders and Dungannon striker Diarmuid O'Carroll is Assistant Manager for the Saints, while he was also appointed Senior Coach for Northern Ireland upon the return of O'Neill late last year.
Robinson feels that McMenamin has what it takes to succeed in Scotland and potentially further afield, while the boss also admits he'd relish the opportunity to manage his country in the future.
McMenamin will be aiming to retain his starting spot for this weekend's Cinch Premiership match at home to Dundee. The match is at 3pm on Saturday.
