David Rutherford returns to Belfast Giants for 2018/19 season

The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the return of David Rutherford for the 2018/19 Elite League season. The 31 year old came out of retirement in 2017/18 to post 21 goals and 28 assists, good for 49 points in 37 games played and helped the Giants to lift the Challenge Cup.
The Canadian forward originally joined the Giants back in January 2016 from the Edinburgh Capitals when the Giants interrupted a move for the forward to the ECHL in North America. He posted 21 goals and 29 assists, good for 50 points in in 53 games played in total in the 2015/16 season, including 18 points with the Giants.
Rutherford had moved home to Canada following the end of the 2016/17 season after helping the Giants to a second place finish and a spot in the Playoff Finals. However Head Coach Adam Keefe brought the fan favourite back to Belfast in November 2017 for the remainder of the season.
Overall Rutherford sits 27th in the Giants all-time points standings with 50 goals and 72 assists, good for 122 points in 112 games
