Cliftonville 1-2 Coleraine

Aaron Burns stepped off the bench to score 2 late goals as Coleraine beat Cliftonville 2-1 at Solitude in the Danske Bank Premiership.

He broke the deadlock in scoring the first in the 72nd minute, but Joe Gormley's deflected freekick pulled the Reds level.

As the clock ticked into added time, Burns coolly curled the winning goal into the top corner from just inside the box.

In a bright opening period, both sides exchanged chances before Chris Curran drove into the Coleraine box and struck a post in the 6th minute.

Coleraine looked certain to take the lead in the 14th as Reds defender Aaron Donnelly lost the ball to Josh Carson - but he was closed down by Richard Brush before he could either pass or shoot.

Chances began to fall Eoin Bradley's way, but he lobbed one effort over the bar, and then failed to connect with a cross.

Graham Crown then saw a 23rd minute header cleared off the line by Liam Bagnall, and it began to feel like the Bannsiders were having one of those days in front of goal.

9 minutes later Darren McAuley blazed wide after connecting with Jamie McGonigle's pullback, and in the 36th minute Brush had to dive low to turn McGonigle's placed effort around the post.

The first half ended with Cliftonville presented with the chance to take an unlikely lead, but Joe Gormley smashed wide with his right foot from just outside the box.

The momentum began to shift into the second half and Conor McMenamin somehow headed wide for Cliftonville in the 63rd minute.

There was then a repeat of Aaron Donnelly's first half error as he was again robbed of possession inside his own box, but Coleraine's McGonigle had his effort cleared off the line by Levi Ives.

Oran Kearney's side finally took the lead they deserved as substitute Aaron Burns popped up at the back post to connect with McAuley's cross put his side ahead in the 72nd minute.

However, Cliftonville drew level as Joe Gormley's powerful free kick was deflected into the net by the unfortunate Stephen Lowry.

The game looked to be heading towards a draw that neither side would have been happy with, but then Burns grabbed the Coleraine winner.

He collected a pass just inside the Cliftonville box before stepping inside and curling an 18-yard-effort into the top corner in the 90th minute to secure a deserved 3 points for the Bannsiders.
