Belfast Giants 7-4 Coventry Blaze

The Belfast Giants scored 4 goals in the 3rd period to secure a 7-4 comeback victory against Coventry Blaze at the SSE Arena on Friday night.

The result marked the first of a weekend double header between the 2 sides.

Jim Vandermeer opened the scoring for the Giants at 5:44, before Paquette levelled for the visitors, on hand to tip-in at 7:30.

Coventry Blaze moved ahead, scoring a quickfire double early into the second period.

Paquette got his second when he tapped in on 28:00 and Robinson scored from the high point just 21 seconds later.

The Giants dragged themselves back into it as Colin Shields scored at 29:19, and Darcy Murphy then made it 3-3 at 32:45.

But at 33:12 Coventry moved back into the lead through Pietrus, whose goal made it 4-3.

The Giants took control in the third period in style, quickly overturning the deficit to move into the lead.

Sebastian Sylvestre made it 4-4 at 44:24 before Brandon Benedict put his side a goal ahead at 47:30.

Coventry barely had time to react to surrendering their lead before Brendan Connolly made it 6-4 just 16 seconds later, and John Kurtz added the 7th goal at 51:41.
