David Jeffrey's side won 2-0 at Seaview to make history, with Allan Jenkins and Conor McCloskey grabbing the goals.

Carrick's TJ Murray could have put Carrick ahead though midway through the first half , instead lashing over at the back post.

Jenkins struck on the stroke of half time though to top what had been a dominant half for Ballymena, after good work from Willie Faulkner.

Allan Jenkins grabbed the first goal.

Aaron O'Callaghan's men rallied after the break, but were unable to make it count.

As the half wore on the Sky Blues again asserted themselves, with a number of corners and a fantastic long range freekick from Tony Kane.

Their attacking intent paid dividends, again right at the end of the half.

David Jeffrey celebrates with the Cup.

McCloskey left little doubt about where the goal was through, putting his foot through the ball and finding the top corner from the edge of the area in the 92nd minute.

It wrapped up the win for Ballymena in style, and ensured the League Cup was heading to Braid country for the very first time.
