Another big win for Linfield in the Battle of the Blues at Mourneview
Glenavon spurn chance to close gap on Coleraine to two points
Glenavon missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership to just two points after losing 1-0 to Linfield last night at Mourneview Park.
With a game in hand, Gary Hamilton’s men could have been leading the way at the Christmas break.
But they were stopped in their tracks by Cameron Stewart whose first-half header sealed all three points.
Building on their win over league leaders Coleraine, the Blues are now firmly back in the title mix.
They leapfrog Cliftonville into fourth spot – although that could change later if the Reds can beat Ballymena United at Solitude.
Glenavon still sit second but they will drop down one place should Crusaders manage to take anything from their game away to the Bannsiders.
Elsewhere, Glentoran take on Ards at the Oval while Dungannon Swifts meet Carrick Rangers at Stangmore Park.
There is also one late game with Ballinamallard hosting Warrenpoint.
Kick off in Fermanagh 5.30p
