Allen puts himself in world frame
Superb 97 break seals victory over English qualifer
Mark Allen’s bid for a World title is off and running.
The Antrim man put up a devastating performance in last night’s second session of his opening round against English qualifier Jimmy Robertson.
He produced a break of 97 in the final frame to win 10-8.
Allen who reached the World Championships semis in 2009 now faces either John Higgins or Martin Gould in the next round.
Higgins takes a 7-2 lead into today’s session.
