Mark Allen’s bid for a first-ever World Championship title is still very much on course.

The Antrim man beat Liam Highfield 10-5 in the first round – having taken a commanding 6-3 lead overnight.

Allen, who won his first Masters last year, will now face Joe Perry who saw off favourite Mark Seliby in his opener.

On his way to victory, he produced seven 50-plus breaks.
