Weather warning issued as '60-70mph gusts' set to batter Northern Ireland tomorrow

Hold on to your hats and tie down the trampolines another spell of windy weather is on the way, just in time for the start of the new working week.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for blustery conditions as the next storm is expected to hit, disrupting travel across Northern Ireland.

According to forecasters; "A spell of very strong westerly winds is expected during early Monday. Many areas are likely to see gusts of 50-60 mph, with some more exposed coasts seeing gusts to 70 mph."

The adverse weather could impact travel plans during the morning commute.

"Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges may close."

"Some structural damage is possible. Power cuts may occur"

"Driving will be dangerous at times, especially when combined with heavy downpours."

The warning comes into effect from 09:00 Monday lasting through until 23:59.

Although it has the potential to cause disruption, Storm Ellen has currently not been named.

Colder air is set to filter in next week with snow expected over higher ground.

Rain, with snow for a time, extending north early Monday, then windy with showers. Cold with occasional showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, wintry on hills.
