High pressure to the east of the UK is helping draw warmer air northwards, resulting in temperatures well above average for the time of year.

According to the Met Office, the blue skies and sunshine will disappear this weekend, and showers are on the way.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said: “While Friday will be another warm day for many, more unsettled weather is on the way on Saturday. Rain or showers will develop for much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland through the day, and some heavier bursts likely in places.

“Unsettled weather, with occasional rain or showers for many, will continue on Sunday, with plenty of cloud around as well.”

Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Rather cloudy on Saturday with outbreaks of rain. Sunny spells on Sunday once any patchy rain clears. Monday will then be dry and settled with sunny periods.
