The Northern Lights could be visible from Northern Ireland this week

The Northern Lights could illuminate the skies of Northern Ireland (if we are lucky) over the next few nights.
An increase in solar winds triggered by a solar flare on the sun means we could be in for a treat through the early hours.
The stunning natural phenomenon was visible from parts of the Co.Down coast on Saturday and captured on camera by some local photographers.
If you missed it, this week could provide another great opportunity to spot the aurora borealis.
Unfortunately cloud cover is forecast for the beginning of the week with Wednesday night into Thursday providing the best chance of any cloud breaks for sky gazers.
The most popular areas to witness the celestial spectacular include Derry~Londonderry, Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart and much of the north Antrim coast.
It's not unusual for the aurora borealis to be visible further south across the province with Bangor and Donaghadee often treated to a dazzling display.
Seeing the Northern Lights has become a bucket list favourite.
To increase your chances of spotting them you should be somewhere with as little light pollution as possible - idealy out of towns and cities and away from streetlights.
Good luck! Remember to tweet us your pictures and videos to @coolfm
