Storm Floris to bring 50mph winds across Northern Ireland
⚠️ A yellow weather warning is in place for Monday 4th August 💨
Storm Floris is expected to hit Northern Ireland on Monday, with the Met Office issuing weather warnings for strong winds and heavy rain for much of the northern half of the UK on Monday and early Tuesday.
The Yellow wind warning which has been updated with an earlier end time, covers a swathe of the northern half of the UK, from Northern Ireland, north Wales, northern England – it is expected that the Scotland will experience the strongest winds, reflected by the issuing of the new Amber warning for wind.
⚠️ 6am to midnight - Monday 4th August 2025 ⚠️
Dan Suri is a Met Office Chief Meteorologist. He said: “Across the wider Yellow warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60mph likely at higher elevations and around some exposed coasts.”
Storm Floris is the sixth named storm of the 2024/2025 Storm Naming season. Storm Éowyn – which occurred in late January – was the last named storm to affect the UK.
