There's something special about waking up to a covering of the white stuff on Christmas morning. It's been years since Northern Ireland last had a proper White Christmas.

As for the chances this year, the Met Office say it's too early to accurately predict snowfall until five days beforehand.

The long range forecast on their website states; "High pressure is likely to dominate for the rest of December and into the early part of January. This is likely to bring a mixture of colder, drier conditions. Snow is likely at times, especially in more northern and central parts of the UK. Temperatures will probably be below average overall."

After this weeks snowfall, bookies are slashing their odds.

At least one snowflake has to fall somewhere in the UK on December 25 for it to be classed as a white Christmas.

Met Check have released a Will I Get A White Christmas? checker – so you can check the probability in your town.

It’s currently predicting a 25 per cent chance in Belfast.
