St Patrick's Day is almost upon us, and we can practically taste the Guinness.

Revellers are being told to wrap up warm as the Met Office predict a bitterly cold weekend - a warning for snow has been issued with freezing temperatures and wintry showers forecast.

According to the Met Office; "A developing area of low pressure will track across Northern Ireland on Saturday. As this runs into colder air, snow is likely to develop. The largest snowfall amounts will be confined to higher ground, with the potential for 10-20 cm settling above 350 m. Between 100 m and 350 m elevation, a mixture of rain, sleet and snow is more likely, but there is potential for accumulations of 2-5 cm, and a small chance of 10 cm should the precipitation be heavy enough to maintain snow for a longer duration. With warm air close by to the south, it may be that places in the south of this warning area end up with mainly rain."

"There is a chance of travel delays on roads along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel."

"Expect ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

The yellow warning comes into effect from 04:00 lasting through until 21:00 Saturday

With freezing temperatures forecast overnight, the wintry conditions are expected to spill into St.Patrick's Day.
