Met Office issues ANOTHER weather warning for heavy rain ⛈️⛈️
August is proving to be a washout
Last updated 7th Aug 2019
Heavy showers and further thunderstorms could batter much of Northern Ireland later this week, the Met Office has said.
Forecasters have issued a yellow severe weather warning as torrential rain is likely to develop during Friday morning across counties Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry~Londonderry, Armagh, Antrim & Down.
"A band of heavy rain, with the possibility of some very heavy bursts, will move northwards during Thursday night and Friday. Within this band 10-15 mm is widely expected, however some places could see as much as 30 mm in just a few hours. Once the rain has cleared scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop, particularly during Friday. Many places will miss these, but where they do occur 10-20 mm is possible in one hour, with perhaps 30 mm in a few hours."
The Met Office's weather warning comes into effect from 00:00 on Friday lasting through until 23:59.
"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus"
"Delays to train services are possible"
"Some short term loss of power and other services is likely"
We are being told to expect further heavy showers and a risk of gales in places this weekend with Sunday looking like the better day for outdoor activities.
