Met Office issues weather warning for thunderstorms today

Thunderstorms and heavy showers could batter much of Northern Ireland later today, the Met Office has said.
Forecasters have issued a yellow severe weather warning as torrential rain is likely to develop during Wednesday afternoon across counties Antrim, Down, Tyrone & Derry~Londonderry.
"Heavy showers, some of them perhaps thundery, are likely to develop during Wednesday afternoon across parts of Northern Ireland. Whilst some areas will miss the heaviest showers, where they do develop, heavy downpours are possible. There is potential for 10-20 mm of rain in an hour and 20-30 mm in 2-3 hours. Showers will then fade away during the late evening."
The Met Office's weather warning comes into affect from 12:00 on Wednesday lasting through until 23:59.
"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures."
"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded or struck by lighting, causing damage to some buildings."
"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services."
"There is a slight chance that flooding or lightning strikes could cause power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."
There is some good news though as high pressure and more settled weather looks set to return in time for the bank holiday weekend.

FRIDAY & THE WEEKEND - 🌤️ - Fewer showers, turning more settled with high pressure moving in - 20-22°C
