Met Office issues snow warning for Northern Ireland - more cold weather expected overnight

There's no end to this cold snap! The Met Office has issued another yellow ‘be aware’ weather warning for Northern Ireland.

Snow showers will continue to develop for most of Monday, lasting through the next 24 hours. These, combined with strong winds could lead to locally very poor travel conditions.

A statement on the Met Office website says: "A band of heavy rain will spread eastwards during Tuesday morning, quickly turning to snow on high level routes above 300 metres and to lower levels for a time before it clears. Accumulations of 5-10 cm of snow are likely above 300 metres, much of this falling in a short period. At lower levels, amounts will be much more variable with a few cm possible in some places while others will just see sleet and rain."

Travelers are being warned of the potential for disruption to transport due to lying and drifting snow.

Expect icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The main warning is in place from 02:00 Tuesday lasting through to 10:00.
