It's been a glorious start to the month, as April has brought sunny skies and warmer temperatures over Northern Ireland.

According to the Met Office, the sunshine is expected to continue this weekend and into next week.

Saturday will bring a dry and settled day with extensive sunshine from sunrise to sunset. It will be a cooler day, with a moderate easterly to north-easterly breeze.

Looking ahead to Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, it will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine and just a few areas of cloud as high pressure remains in control over the weather.

Northern Ireland's five-day forecast 👇

This Evening and Tonight: This evening will be dry with some late brightness and areas of cloud clearing west. The rest of the night will be dry and mostly clear. A chilly night. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Saturday: All parts will have a dry day with plenty of sunshine. Feeling warm in the afternoon sunshine. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Remaining dry and sunny day across all parts. Becoming warm, especially across western counties, but chilly overnight.

UK's long-range forecast 👇

High pressure expected to prevail early in this period maintaining largely settled conditions.

This should result in largely dry weather with plenty of sunshine for most. Daytime temperatures will depend on the wind direction and cloud amounts, but most places will be warm for most of the period, and very warm days most likely will be further inland.

Coasts with an onshore flow tending to be cooler. Overnight frosts are possible on clear nights where winds fall light.

There is also the chance of some areas of low cloud or fog, notably around the east coast.

Towards the middle of April, the weather is likely to turn more unsettled for a time with a greater chance of showers or longer spells of rain for all regions.
