Helping raise much-needed funds for local charities 🌻
Last updated 9th Aug 2022
Nothing screams summer quite like a golden hour photoshoot with bold and beautiful flowers in the background!
A number of local farms are transforming empty fields into a sunflower paradise, so folks can visit and grab some 'instagram-worthy' snaps and colourful TikTok content.
Sunflowers bloom from the middle of summer, through to early autumn, but the best time to enjoy local sunflower fields is during the month of August when they are tall and at their optimal condition.

Some sunflower fields will allow you to pick flowers, but you must check before you enter the fields. If you are allowed, be considerate of other visitors and only pick a few.

Carginagh Sunflower Fields, Kilkeel
Kilkeel's Carginagh Sunflower Field is home to 100,000 colourful flowers with a very different backdrop than most. The Mourne Mountains tower over the flowers in the distance.
It's a great spot to bring the family, there's even picnic tables for those who would like a cuppa or quick snack.
Donations made will help support the Southern Area Hospice & CCK Annex Project. You can also take some flowers home too.
Flavour First, Donaghadee
Open daily from 10am to 5pm, Flavour First are a local family-run fruit & vegetable shop on the Ards peninsula. They offer something that little bit different – a farm touch screen vending machine.
Throughout the year the family host special seasonal events, including a stunning sunflower field and pumpkin patch.
There is a small entry fee - £5 per adult, £2 per child (3-16 year olds), under 3's go free
There's also the opportunity to pick your own sunflowers, with money donated going to Cancer Fund for Children (£1 per stem).
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
