Yellow wind alert in place for parts of Northern Ireland

Hills and coastal areas are likely to see gusts reaching up to 65 mph

A yellow weather warning for wind comes into force tomorrow (Wednesday) across parts of Northern Ireland.

From 9am until 5pm counties Londonderry and Antrim will be covered in the wind alert.

Gusts of 45 to 55 mph are expected widely with a few places - hills and coastal areas - are likely to see gusts reaching up to 65 mph.

The Met Office has also warned strong winds are likely to cause some disruption to travel.

What to Expect

Some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges and damage to trees is also possible.

Some delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport expected.

Some short-term loss of power and other services

Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
