Aughnacloy: woman dies in house fire

A woman in her 70s has died in a house fire in Co Tyrone.

The incident happened at a property in the Derrycush Park area of Aughnacloy yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Officers were notified of the fire shortly after 6 o'clock and attended alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the blaze but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Inquiries are ongoing. However, at this stage, it is not believed that the death is suspicious."
