Two released after being questioned over poster claiming to name PSNI officers

Police have released two men who were being questioned in connection a poster placed at a bus stop in County Londonderry, claiming to name PSNI officers.
The 38 and 58 year olds were detained yesterday on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The poster appeared in Dungiven on Thursday and police say it contained incorrect information.
A PSNI statement said “Two men arrested by detectives investigating the placing of a poster near a bus shelter in Dungiven on Thursday, 31st August, have been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.”
It comes in the wake of a major PSNI data breach which will be the subject of a Westminster Committee tomorrow.
The breach saw the details of about 10,000 PSNI staff mistakenly released online.
MPs on the Committee will question the PSNI’s Chief Constable Simon Byrne and Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd on the process to protect such information and why it failed in the run up to the leak.
They will also hear from Police representatives on the impact of the breach on morale in the service and the concerns of and consequences for frontline officers and backroom staff.
