Two men struck with bar during aggravated Cookstown burglary

Detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary in Cookstown.

It happened just after 10 o'clock on Friday night in the Queen's Avenue area.

Four masked men, one armed with an iron bar and another with a suspected firearm, entered a property.

Two men in their 20s were struck with the bar - they were taken to hospital for treatment.

A PSNI spokesperson continued: "The two women who were inside the property at the time of the incident, were not injured.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and would appeal to anyone with any information, or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 2116 03/02/23.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
