Lurgan: a security alert is now over
Police say nothing untoward was found during their search

A security alert in Lurgan has now ended.
Police cordoned off the Shankill Street area of the Co Armagh town early today (Sunday) after a report that a suspicious object had been left there.
Residents had been evacuated from their homes and roads closed.
However, Chief Inspector Tim Flanigan said: “Officers attended the scene along with Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) who examined the object and declared it nothing untoward.
“Residents have been advised they can also return home after they were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
“We appreciate that people experienced disruption as this public safety operation was carried out, and we thank residents for their understanding and patience during this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 303-25/01/26.”
