School closures across Northern Ireland on 9th January 2025

Heavy snow and ice conditions have led to a number of schools closing across Northern Ireland today.

We’ve got a yellow weather warning across Northern Ireland for freezing fog until 9 o’clock. And another for snow and ice icy conditions over counties Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh until 11 o’clock.

The following schools have posted announcing closure today (9th January 2025) due to adverse weather:

Northern Ireland's five-day weather forecast:

Today: A few wintry showers across the north. Otherwise it will be a dry and very cold day with sunny spells. A few lingering freezing fog patches. Icy patches. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Tonight: A mainly dry, clear and very cold night with a widespread sharp frost. Freezing fog patches. Chance of light wintry shower along the north coast this evening. Minimum temperature -5 °C.

Friday: All parts will have a dry and cold day with some bright or sunny spells. Frost soon returning after dark. Light winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Cold and cloudy on Saturday with some early rain possible in the south. Dry on Sunday with some brightness, becoming les cold. Mild and breezy on Monday with rain later.
