The burglary at St Enda's GAA club happened between Monday night and Tuesday morning on the Killybracken Road.

Fire extinguishers were released and locks smashed throughout the premises, with club equipment also stolen and damaged.

The burglars forced their way through a number of security gates, as well as fire exit and broke into every locked room in the building.

Safes were chiseled from the walls during the break-in.

Club Secretary Conor Sally said it was a real blow to the club but that they were hoping to be back up and running for Tyrone's National Football League match on Sunday.

"We're hoping that by the weekend we'll be back to normal," he said.

"Of course, there'll be thousands of people in Healy Park on Sunday.

The fire extinguishers were also let off throughout the building.

"Obviously it'll take longer than that for the full damage to be fixed.

"These people have no regard for the community, no regard for the consequences of their actions.

"I'd say they were interested in one thing and one thing only.

"These people don't care that it's a community organisation, that it's a service for hundreds of people on a daily basis."

The club have said it will take some time to fix the damage.
