Flat residents evacuated following blaze in Coleraine

Police are treating an overnight arson in Coleraine as 'deliberate ignition'.
Detectives say they received a report at around 8.15 last night, of a fire at an apartment building in the Weavers Court area of the town.

A police spokesperson said: Detective Sergeant Marks said: “Police received a report at approximately 8.15 on Sunday, 26th May of a fire inside a communal area at an apartment building in the Weavers Court area of the town.
“A number of residents were evacuated as a precaution whilst officers and our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and tackled the blaze.
“Thankfully, no injuries were reported and residents have since been allowed to return home.
“We are treating this report as deliberate ignition and extensive damage was caused to the communal area of the property.
“Our investigation is currently underway to determine exactly what happened, who was involved and a motive."
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who has CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage that could assist their investigation, to contact them.
