L'Derry: Police appeal for information after racist graffiti is sprayed on the wall of a house
Police appealed today (Wednesday) for information after racist graffiti was sprayed on the wall of house in Londonderry.
It is understood the incident took place at the home of a Sudanese family in the Fountain Estate area of Derry.
The PSNI said it was being investigated as a racially motivated hate crime.
Inspector Michael Gahan said: "What has happened is completely unacceptable.
"Everyone deserves to live without fear or intimidation," he said.
"As we investigate who committed this crime, I am appealing to anyone with information, anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area to call us on 101, quoting RM25072583."
Colum Eastwood MP has condemned the attack.
“This hateful attack on a family that has embedded itself in the local community is outrageous," he said.
"People who have come to our city, are raising their family here, contributing to their community and doing their best to make a life for themselves deserve to live in peace.
“The people responsible for this racist graffiti should be held accountable for the disgusting attempt to intimidate this family and others in our community. I would urge anyone with information to come forward to police.”
