Maghera security alert has now ended say police

Police on Wednesday evening said a security alert which began on Tuesday has now ended.

It was declared in Maghera's Ranaghan Road area on Tuesday.

A number of properties were evacuated.

Police say residents are now back in their homes.

On Wednesday evening, police said a man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances and other offences.
