Police launch murder probe into disappearance of Cookstown man

Police have launched a murder investigation following the disappearance of a 47-year old Cookstown man.

A 50-year old man was arrested in connection with his vanishing earlier today.

Damien Heagney was reported missing on July 19th.

Police say that whilst he was reported missing then, he's believed to have last been SEEN in the early hours of New Year's Eve outside Cookstown.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Wilson said: "Damien is 47 years of age, around 5' 10" tall, of stocky build, and has links to the Tyrone area.

“I would appeal for anyone who has any information surrounding Damien’s disappearance to contact Major Investigation Team detectives at on 101 quoting reference 1058 of 19/07/22.

“Alternatively information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
