O'Neill on drink driving charge
NI boss to appear in court in Edinburgh next month
Northern Ireland football manager Michael O’Neill has been charged in connection with drink driving in Edinburgh.
The 48-year-old is due to appear in court October 10 – two days after Northern Ireland play Norway in a World Cup qualifier.
In a statement, police in Scotland said: “Police in Edinburgh arrested and charged a 48-year-old man in connection with drink driving eastbound on the A720 at around 12.55am on Sunday, 12th September.”
Meanwhile, the Irish Football Association said: “The Irish Football Association is aware of an alleged drink-driving incident involving Michael O’Neill.
“As it is a police matter, the Association will be making no further comment.
