Man charged following reports of gun on a train
A man has been charged after reports a person armed with a gun on a train in Co Down had approached young female passengers claiming to be a police officer.
A man was escorted from the Holywood train when it arrived at Belfast's Lanyon station by security staff after it was alleged he had "brandished the weapon, pointing it at staff".
A PSNI spokesperson said a BB gun or airgun was found during a search by police.
A 52-year-old man has been charged with impersonating a police officer and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The spokesperson added: "As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
