Meet the Maghera children’s author destined for the small screen
Yvonne Fleming, a local writer who created the children’s book series ‘The Weatherbies’ has announced an exciting new partnership alongside international script writer Jodi Reynolds.
An acclaimed script writer/producer herself, Reynolds has had phenomenal success with multiple broadcasters in the UK and America. Recent children’s television credits include the role of writer for Peter Rabbit, House of Anubis, Sunny Day and Rescue Bots Academy.
Fleming and Reynolds have partnered to write scripts for the next series of ‘The Weatherbies’ - a collection of stories based on a community of loveable weather themed characters including Sammy Sun, Rosie Rainbow, Colin Cloud, Flo Snow, Ronny Rain, Willy Wind and many more!
Threewise Entertainment, a rising star in the UK’s Kids & Family sector, securing 3 television deals since launching during the pandemic in late-2020’ recently unveiled The Weatherbies, a 52 x 11-minute 2D-animated comedy based on Yvonne Fleming’s books of the same name.
Armed with two completed scripts, the team is now on the hunt for broadcast, co-production and distribution partners, with plans to begin production in the first half of 2022.
Fleming said: “We are forever striving to generate interest for children and continue to attract and engage proactively with potential commercial partners. We are beyond thrilled that Jodi is part of our team to develop and actualise scripts to fully materialise The Weatherbies. Our portfolio has an aesthetic springboard that dives directly into a weather world of books, stories and scripts. Our characters are weather symbols that encourage friendship, empathy, compassion and problem solve current eco-hazards; utmost imperative from a child’s perspective today. A healthier environment means a stabilised environment!”
Head of Content, Michael Ford added: The Weatherbies is our way of tackling climate change in a way kids can understand at a young age.”
