Castlewellan brothers collect over 250 easter eggs for local hospital
Adam and Jake are definitely 'good eggs'
Most children will be counting down the days until they receive a tasty delivery from the Easter bunny this weekend.
But two brothers, Adam (aged 6) and Jake (aged 4) from Castlewellan, Co. Down have been counting something else recently.
The thoughtful pair decided they wanted to collect Easter eggs for the fantastic NHS staff and poorly children at their local hospital, Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.
They wanted to say a huge thank you to all the NHS staff for everything they’ve done this year and still continue to do.
The boys set an initial goal was of 40 eggs, but as their collection started to grow, so did the support from their family, friends and community. The boys currently have an amazing 250 eggs to giveaway!
Their mum Laura couldn’t quite believe the response. Laura commented: “The boys have been so exciting watching all the eggs come in each day, we’ve been overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness. The parents at St Mary’s Primary School in Aughlisnafin and Murlough AC have all helped greatly, so a huge thank you to everyone who got in touch and took part.”
“I am just so proud of my boys - they’ve even donated their own Easter eggs. The NHS are risking their lives at the minute and are more strained than ever, so it’s nice that we can give something back. It’s a small token but the hospital is so grateful for the gesture and we hope to deliver the eggs later this week.”
