Hundreds of households across NI begin third day without power
NIE Networks has been working round the clock to get everyone reconnected
More than 1,000 NIE Networks customers in Northern Ireland are beginning a third day without power.
They've been cut off since Sunday when the first of two back to back Storms hit.
It had been anticipated it could take days to get everyone reconnected after more than 50,000 customers experienced black outs from Storm Isha.
In the latest update (Wed morning) NIE Networks said, “Engineering teams have continued working throughout the night and this morning approximately 1,400 customers remain without electricity across parts of Northern Ireland as it faces the second storm within days.”
“Power has already been restored to over 52,000 customers since Sunday evening, following Storm Isha.”
“Storm Jocelyn brought strong winds with gusts of up to 70 mph overnight and NIE Networks is working hard to restore power to all remaining customers where it is safe to do so.”
“We once again want to remind the public to maintain safety around any damaged electricity equipment and never approach a broken pole or overhead power line.”
Community Centres will open again later (4-8pm) for those still affected by power cuts to use charging points, fill up flasks etc.
