A house under construction in Londonderry has been set alight.

The fire on the Buncrana Road in Derry happened in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) and is being treated as arson.

The PSNI said just before 2:30am the NIFRS were called to the scene before extinguishing the flames which caused significant damage to the property.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw any suspicious activity, or who has information which may assist the investigation.
