A house has been damaged in an arson attack in Co Down.
Detectives received a report of a fire in the Killard Avenue area of Newtownards at around 10pm yesterday (Tuesday)
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished the blaze.
"Damage was caused to the front door area. Graffiti was also discovered on a wall of the property.
"The occupant of the property was thankfully able to escape uninjured."
Police are treating the incident as as arson with intent to endanger life and inquiries are ongoing to determine a motive.
The spokesperson added: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anything suspicious to make contact with us.
"We are especially appealing to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured car in the area around 10pm.
"We also want to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1575 24/11/25."
