Government document outlines more details on NI's £600 energy support payment
A UK government document has shed some light on details of the £600 energy support payment that is due to be distributed to households across Northern Ireland.
According to the document which has been published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the payment will be distributed by the supply companies households are registered with on January 2nd, 2023.
However when each particular household will receive that money in their account from that date remains unclear.
Consumers in the rest of the UK have already begun to receive energy support payments in the midst of the cost-of-living crisis.
However the distribution of the money has been severely hampered in Northern Ireland due to the lack of a functioning Stormont Executive.
It is not sitting due to the DUP's opposition to the Northern Ireland Protocol, which deals with post-Brexit trading arrangements.
