At just 9 years old, Triona picked up her Dad's guitar and quickly moved on to composing and writing her own songs. Triona counts support for Joan Armatrading in Vicar Street and receiving the Cel Fay bursary award for Young Musician of the Year as just a couple of highlights of her music career to date. When asked what influenced the lyrics behind her new single, 'Flames', she replied 'I've been influenced by my travels to Nashville, and you can hear the Americana influence in all my music'.
Prior to releasing her new single, 'Flames', Triona has played at the famous Bluebird café, the Music City Roots show, and Belmont University. In addition to this this, Triona has showcased at the annual Belfast Nashville Songwriters' Festival and can be found performing in venues around Belfast's trendy Catherdral Quarter.
Triona's single has been beautifully produced, and her voice hints at the vocal style of Emeli Sandé. When we asked her about the inspiration behind her video she said 'The old clips of couples were to symbolise the happy times in a relationship and the more tense times and the ability for us to work through them'. She added that 'the video shows that no matter what the day and age there are still elements of this modern world that has stayed very much the same'.
