Emergency services across the country are warning of a technical fault with the 999 system, which is causing many calls to fail to connect.

A PSNI Spokesperson said "Our 999 emergency reporting system is currently experiencing some difficulties. Please report any incidents to 101 if you experience any difficulties getting through"

For medical emergencies, you can ring 111.

Meanwhile, a Spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said "The National 999 System is experiencing technical issues. NIFRS is receiving 999 calls and advise the public in an emergency to continue to use the 999 service"

We have been told BT is working to fix the issue.
