It has been one of closest presidential election races in history - with the two protagonists, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, neck and neck from the get-go.

Now, we're on the final stretch of this fascinating marathon - with the arrival of Election Day - but still without a clear winner in sight.

Various polls have reflected just how tight it's been.

However, one thing is for certain - if the Republican former President is return to the White House or if Vice-President Kamala Harris is to become the first-ever female President - then they simply have to win in the key swing states.

Wisconsin is one such state, where I have been for the last couple of weeks - gauging the thoughts and views of the 'ordinary' American voter - and attending both the Trump and Harris rallies in Milwaukee and Madison respectively.

During his rally Trump told the packed crowd: “America will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer and stronger than ever before.”

Meanwhile, Harris told her supporters "I believe in them, I want my freedom."

Opinion here like most of the crucial battlegrounds is mixed - with the economy, immigration and reproductive rights among the key issues.

More than 80 million people have already cast their votes and many more millions will be doing likewise today (Tuesday).

Both candidates have been busy - making their final pitches - over the last 24 hours but soon the talking will stop - and the watch parties for both camps will take over.

America and, indeed, the world holds its breath...
