Police are yet to release the names of the four victims of a crash in County Armagh over the weekend.

It’s understood they were all in their 20’s.

The crash happened on the Ballynahonemore Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The road remains closed as police enquiries continue at the scene of the collision.

Local MLA William Irwin says he can empathize with the families involved, as he lost his own son years ago, who was 15 at the time. “There’s very little you can say, only that you know what they are going through. Our family knows about the pain, hurt, and trauma of going through the death of a young person.”

“You read about it in the papers, you hear about it in the news, but no-one expects it to happen at their home. It’s a very traumatic experience”.

Local councillor Bróna Haughey said the Co Armagh community is heartbroken once again, after a fatal crash in Markethill which claimed the lives of three people before Christmas.

Sunday's crash was one of two fatal collisions on Northern Ireland's roads over the weekend.

Another man lost his life after being hit by a car on the Forkhill Road near Newry on Saturday night.
