There's more to it than boxing! A day in the life of local sports star Carl Frampton
Ever wondered what a trip to the local supermarket on a Friday night is like for Carl Frampton?
Tomorrow morning at 7.15pm, 8.15pm and 9.15pm Pete Snodden goes three rounds with our WBA/IBF super bantamweight world champion.
Carl gives us a fascinating insight into the life of a Northern Irish sports star.
Since beating Scott Quigg in Manchester, Kiko Martinez and Chris Avalos he’s risen to fame as a role model for our wee country.
He chats about how difficult a trip to the supermarket on a Friday night has become;
“You go to Tesco, they stare and you can hear them talking... there’s the boxer. When one person plucks up the courage to ask for a photograph, there’s a crowd. It’s part of the game. I don’t mind talking to people and having a chat. Everyone’s always friendly.”
Ever wondered what the average day in the life of Carl Frampton is like?
Going for lunch, going to the park, watching a film and helping out with homework is all part of the world champion’s daily routine… Carl says “We eat out a lot when I’m not training, maybe too much”.
He enjoys the school run with his younger daughter Carla but isn’t a fan of parent teacher meetings… “I’ve been to one parent teacher meeting… it’s alright.”
Frampton talks about UFC and the rise of Conor McGregor, Rory McIllroy and how he’d like Crusaders to win the Irish League.
The Jackal could potentially defend his WBA/IBF super bantamweight world title belts in late July or August - but definitely after the EURO's.
