The body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, has been found at a property in Banbridge.

Police said they were treating the death as “suspicious” at this stage.

The body was discovered at around 4.50pm yesterday in a house on Millmount Court.

A 28 year old man has been arrested and a post mortem examinaton is being carried out.

In a statement, the PSNI said: “Detectives are appealing for anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact them in the incident room at Banbridge Police Station.

“They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area of Millmount Court between Saturday 7th July and yesterday Monday 9th July and who noticed anything suspicious.

“ Please call 101 quoting reference 1000 09/07/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
