Balmoral Show: tens of thousands expected over next four days for biggest event on agri calendar

The biggest spectacle on Northern Ireland's agri calendar got under way today (Wednesday).
The 152nd Balmoral Show, held on the former Maze site, just outside Lisburn, is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors over the next four days.
Last year the event was postponed due to the pandemic and this year visitors are required to show their Covid status before entering.
The show will see more than 2,100 livestock compete in more than 650 classes, along with a wide range of food stalls and machinery on display.
And there is a variety of farm animals being shown from cattle, pigs and goats to poultry and rabbits.
There is also a Children's Farm plus a special Horticulture area.
In addition, for the first time, visitors will be able to avail of the ‘Jab & Go’ Covid-19 vaccination clinic at the Balmoral show.
The show opens from today until Friday - from 9.30am to 6pm and on Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm.
