We’ve all been there...and now, more than ever, it’s harder to hide from them.
Our embarrassing fashion mistakes!
Whether you proudly sported a colourful shellsuit, spent a summer pulling up your oversize trousers or had your hair cut into a mullet - we can guarantee that at some point, if it hasn’t happened already, those fashion disasters will be back to bite you on social media.
According to a recent survey shell suits, Crocs, Uggs and mullets have all been named as the most unforgivable fashion mistakes of all time.
Originally intended for sports use, the shell suit emerged in the 1980s but rapidly became ‘lounge wear’.
It topped the fashion faux pax above tattoos, flares, Crocs, fake tan, platforms, oversize jeans, Ugg boots, tracksuits and bell bottoms.
Was this you?
The survey of 2,000 adults in the UK which included Northern Ireland found the infamous mullet being voted 11th biggest fashion mistake, ahead of corduroy, “sagging” and “low-rise” pants, camouflage wear and Hawaiian shirts.
The research was commissioned to launch anCnoc Scotch whisky’s collaboration with fashion designer Patrick Grant, who has designed a bespoke print for their new limited edition Blas single malt. It also named everything from embellished jeans, mood rings, chokers and tube tops.
Cool FM listener Jane Reynolds, 36, from Belfast admitted: “We’ve all been there and I’m not surprised at some of the things on the list. I’ve been through a few of them myself from Uggs and embellished jeans to wearing lots and lots of neon ‘back in the day’.”
County Down listener Jason McCloskey, 54, said he’s waiting on the day his 80s rock look surfaces on social media. He added: “I’m a recent convert to social media so I won’t be surprised if there’s a fair few pictures cropping up of my big 80s hair.”
