Police investigating the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell have arrested a 25-year old man.
It is in relation to the claim of responsibility made following the attack.
He has also been detained in relation to a hoax security alert last month in Londonderry's Lone Moor Road.
DCI Caldwell was shot in a gun attack in Omagh on Wednesday, February 22.
Police have said the New IRA is the main line of inquiry in the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Caldwell remains critically ill. Irish President Michael D Higgins and Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris had been attending the game between Derry City and Shamrock Rovers.
